Supreme Election Commission, with the support of the Council of Europe in the framework of the Project "Supporting Transparency, Inclusiveness and Integrity of Electoral Practice and Process in Georgia" published a journal N4 "Elections and Democracy".

Election Day
Today the Parliamentary Elections of Georgia and Supreme Council Elections of A.R. of Adjara are being held. Overall, 21 members of the Supreme Council will be elected, 18- with the proportional, and 3 - with the majoritarian system. The polling process has already been started. All election precincts in the region were opened at 07:00, all rules are followed to hold elections professionally, in an accessible and safe environment. To ensure the participation of voters placed in medical institutions and isolation 24 special polling stations were established. Those pooling stations will serve 4044 voters with 70 mobile ballot boxes. For the 2020 Supreme Council Elections, the number of voters is - 314 899. The election process and in particular, the counting process, at mentioned polling stations will be held according to special sanitary -hygienic rules, separated from other polling stations.

314 899 voters are registered in Adjara region for 2020 Supreme Council Elections. The process of checking the voters’ list is completed.

The Informational Campaign
Parliamentary Elections of Georgia and Supreme Council Elections of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara will be conducted on October 31. In Ajara Autonomous Republic, the voters will get 4 different-coloured ballot papers, green and yellow for proportional and majoritarian elections of the Supreme Council of A.R., blue and pink for proportional and majoritarian elections of the Parliament of Georgia.

Webinar "My First Elections"
The head of the Institutional Development Division of SEC, Rusudan Ananiashvili, conducted a webinar for the pupils of public schools. The meeting was held in the framework of the project “Generation of Future”. The mentioned program is implemented by the Education Development and Employment Training Center, supported by the American Organization PH International and funded by USAID. The project is also supported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport of Ajara Autonomous Republic.

Today, the SEC meeting was held at the Supreme Election Commission. The commission created the special group for observing the printing process of ballot papers for the 2020 Parliamentary and Supreme Council Elections, which will be conducted on October, 31.

Webinar for Representatives of Political Parties
The Supreme Election Commission in partnership with the International Republican Institute conducted training for the representatives of political parties. The meeting was opened by the Chairman of SEC Parmen Jalagonia and Senior Program Officer of IRI Nino Dolidze. Experts on electoral issues Nino Dolidze, Irma Pavliashvili, and Robert Maglakelidze led the meeting.

The Deadline for Submission the Party Lists is Expired
Today,the deadline for submission the party lists by registered political parties and election blocs has expired at 18:00. After submitting the party lists, the process of verifying the lists begins. The relevant office will examine the submitted documentation and provide the SEC Chairperson with the report no later than October 5th.

The Rules for Nominating Party Lists
The Law of Autotnomous Republic of Adjara “The Law of Elections of Autonomous Republic of Adjara” –defines the rules for nominating party lists for independently participating parties and election blocs. Every party and election bloc have a right to nominate their respective party lists. Party lists must include, at the very least, 18 to, no more than, 30 potential members of the Supreme Council.

The commission session was held at Supreme Election Commission on September 17. The commission adopted a decree on defining sequence number for electoral subjects. The sequence number of the electoral subject shall be determined no later than the 30th day before the E-day (October 1)

1 September Meeting
Supreme Council Elections of Autonomous Republic of Adjara was appointed on October 31 of the current year. President of Georgia issued the relevant legal act. Election Administration launched implementing the electoral procedures defined by the legislation. Today, the commission session was conducted at Supreme Election Commission.

August 18,Meeting results
On August 18,Supreme Election Commission adopted a decree defining the rule of accreditation for press and mass media representative to attend and cover election commission’s sessions during the non-election period.In order to get accreditation at the election commission, the head of the media outlet shall submit an application on the title page of the organization addressed to the secretary of the relevant election commission.

Workshop on media regulationsOn
On Jyly 31,2020,at Hotel Hilton,in Batumi,the Council of Europe in cooperation with the Supreme Election Commission of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara organised a workshop for representatives of local media on “Media regulations during electoral processes – international and domestic standards”.The participants of the meeting discussed the main aspect of coveraging information during the elections.

Registration Rules for Political Parties
Registration instructions for Political Parties - 2020 Supreme Council Elections: The registration for political parties, to apply to the Supreme Election Copmmission (SEC) and obtain the right to participate in 2020 Supreme Council Elections, is being implemented in the line with acticle 35, the Law of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara on Elections of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.
