Awarding Event of Essay Competition Winners

An online event - the youth essay competition “My Vote in Democracy” and the discussion on the topic “Youth for Changes” was organized with the cooperation of the Supreme Election Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara and the Council of Europe Office in Georgia.

The representatives of the Supreme Election Commission and the Council of Europe attended the meeting. The opening remarks were delivered by Maia Jorjikia, the senior officer of the project, Council of Europe’s Elections and Participatory Democracy Division, and Parmen Jalaghonia, the Chairperson of the Supreme Election Commission. Daniel Moxon, the COS expert, led the meeting. The sides took special note of the role of young people in the election process, the importance of the voting process, the challenges young people face during the elections and their involvement in the whole process of elections.

Winners of the youth essay competition “My vote in Democracy” were announced:
First place (750 GEL) - Lela Chkhetiani,
Second place (550 GEL) – Magda Shushtakishvili,
Third place (450 GEL) – Mariam Ghurtskaia.

Winners will be able to participate in the educational and informational project “My First Elections” and other various events organized by Election Administration. The representatives of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of Adjara and the Regional Youth Center will hand over symbolic gifts to winners, branded items and books.
